Starting out on a fitness journey can be both exhilarating and daunting. With countless options available, discovering the activity that brings you joy and fulfillment is a crucial first step towards sustainable fitness.
For me personally – I discovered indoor cycling, got hooked and later moved to strength training as well.
But the key for a great start is finding what you really ENJOY doing.
So let’s dive into a simplified guide to help you navigate this exciting exploration.
1.Reflect on Your Preferences:
Take a moment to reflect on activities that have brought you joy or curiosity in the past. Consider what makes you smile and energized. What types of movements or exercises resonate with your interests and values? I for example used to be a competing cyclist – so indoor cycling was the perfect choice!

Be honest with yourself about your strengths and areas for improvement. What aspects of your fitness do you want to enhance, and ar
e there any considerations for your well-being? to get started – really just start ANYWHERE! Even going for regular walks could be your healthy start!
Evaluate your current fitness level and any physical limitations you may have.
3. Explore Variety:
Venture into the world of fitness with an open mind.
What new activities or classes have sparked your curiosity?
Whether it’s dancing, cycling, yoga, or martial arts, exploring a variety of options can uncover hidden passions.
Also consider outdoor activities – I do outdoor training classes with a group of women 3 times a week.
It is a different way to work out and perfect if you don’t like the gym!
4. Listen to Your Body:
Pay close attention to how your body responds to different activities.
What sensations bring you joy and a sense of accomplishment?
Tune into the physical and emotional feedback to discover the movements that resonate with you on a deeper level.
5. Overcome Fear and Insecurities:
Acknowledge any fears or insecurities you may have about starting a new fitness activity.
Reflect on the origins of these concerns and challenge yourself to reframe them.
What steps can you take to overcome these fears and step into a space of empowerment?
My advice here is also: DO IT ANYWAYS!
Keep in mind that what you don’t know you cant eventually love!
6. Start Small, Build Consistency:
Begin your fitness journey with small, manageable steps.
What actions can you take today to incorporate movement into your routine?
Whether it’s a short walk, a quick workout at home, or trying a beginner’s class, building consistency is key to long-term success.
All in all, your fitness journey is a personal exploration, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.
I can tell you what I do – but if that is not at all what neither suits into your lifestyle nor what you actually enjoy – then it would only take so long before you quit.
Take the time to connect with yourself, experiment with different activities, and savor the joy of movement.
As you navigate this path, you’ll not only discover a fitness routine that suits you but also uncover a newfound love for a healthier, happier you.
Embrace the journey, and let the joy of movement guide you towards a thriving and fulfilling life.
